Do you like mucking in? Are you good at mucking out? If you are over 12 years old then come and join us! Become a volunteer! Learn new skills, meet people and have fun.
We currently have over 200 members - of all ages - and over 100 volunteers. Thanks to their hard work and enthusiasm, the animals have never been better looked after and the farm goes from strength to strength.
What does it involve?
Volunteers help out on the farm in many ways - feeding, mucking out, looking after the animals, gardening, painting, fencing and much more. Most of the jobs that the staff do, volunteers can help with.
To volunteer you need to become a member of the farm, this costs £15 a year and covers your insurance whilst working on the farm. Young volunteers are also requested to pay £1.00 for each day that they volunteer to cover the cost of staff supervision.
Under 18s - You need to collect a young volunteers application pack from the farm. When you complete the forms we need to see proof of age such as a passport or birth certificate. We also need to have an informal chat with your parent or guardian.
Over 18’s - You will need to collect an adult volunteers application pack from the farm. We will need to see some ID and you will need to provide us with two character references with your completed paperwork.
If you are interested in volunteering either pop up to the farm or give the farm a ring on 0116 2537582 to check what spaces are currently available.
Interested in becoming a Voluntary Committee Member?
We are currently looking for people with a passion to support and shape the future of the farm to join the Management Committee. You will need to become a member of the farm and be able to spare a few hours each month to attend the monthly committee meeting.
Everyone is welcome to join but we would be particularly interested in hearing from those with interest or a background in law, fundraising, health and safety or farming. Contact the farm directly for more information.
